Anne-Marie’s journey into the world of holistic healing began with a deep-seated curiosity about alternative therapies. Her educational background in psychology and an inherent interest in philosophy, art therapy, and alternative approaches to well-being set the stage for her exploration.

Anne-Marie recalls hearing about Reiki from a young age, intrigued by its mysterious allure.

However, it wasn’t until 2017, while experiencing bouts of anxiety in Berlin, that Anne-Marie decided to delve into Reiki. She was searching for a way to address her own struggles and anxieties, and Reiki found its way back into her life.

After her first Reiki session, Anne-Marie immediately resonated with the practice, prompting her to pursue Reiki Level 1 and Level 2 certifications.

Her journey with yoga was equally profound, having practised for over a decade. In 2020, she completed her yoga teacher training, taking her personal practice to a new level. The study of sound and music had always been integral to her life, and this led her to explore sound healing through Tibetan bowls and gongs during her travels in India.

These diverse threads of her journey eventually converged into a beautiful tapestry of holistic healing.

The Synergy of Reiki, Sound Healing, and Yoga

When combined, Reiki, sound therapy, and yoga create a potent synergy of energetic practices. They operate on various levels, offering physical, emotional, and spiritual healing.

On a physical level, sound therapy uses vibrations to impact the body’s cells, helping to restore harmony within. Water, a significant component of the human body, is an excellent conductor of sound, allowing these vibrations to deeply resonate within us.

Reiki, too, involves physical touch, which can boost the immune system and promote relaxation, alleviating the chronic stress that plagues many in today’s fast-paced world.

Emotionally, these practices provide a safe space for individuals to connect with their feelings and emotions. This emotional release is essential, as emotions are a form of energy in motion.

Many people are often disconnected from their bodies and struggle to navigate their emotions. Through Reiki, sound therapy, and yoga, individuals can bridge this disconnect, exploring their relationships with concepts such as safety, creativity, and confidence.

Spiritually, these practices connect us to something larger than our daily lives. They offer a sense of belonging to a greater whole, providing comfort and guidance in moments of doubt and uncertainty. Yoga, for example, embodies the union of mind, body, and spirit, fostering a sense of oneness and spiritual growth.

Transformation Through Energy Work

Anne-Marie has witnessed countless transformations in her clients as a result of these practices. Reiki, in particular, often leads to profound shifts in individuals’ lives. Sessions have facilitated decision-making, empowered individuals to take crucial steps in their lives, and sparked inner strength and courage.

However, it’s important to note that transformation may not always be immediate. Anne-Marie emphasises the value of committing to small, consistent practices that, over time, yield lasting change. These practices may not yield instant results but lay the foundation for sustained transformation.

Integrating Energy Work into Yoga

Yoga practitioners can seamlessly incorporate energy work into their routines, enhancing the benefits of their practice. Yoga itself is an energetic practice, with various poses designed to balance energy channels in the body. Combining yoga with sound therapy or Reiki can provide a deeper and more holistic experience.

Yin and restorative yoga classes, which involve slow and gentle movements, pair exceptionally well with sound healing. The soothing vibrations of sound can enhance relaxation and help the body settle into postures more deeply.

Additionally, yoga classes that incorporate gong baths or sound healing can bring greater awareness to the energetic aspects of the practice.

A Simple Energy Work Meditation

For those interested in experiencing a taste of energy work, Anne-Marie recommends a simple meditation exercise:

1. Find a quiet space and close your eyes.
2. Take a few deep breaths, allowing your awareness to settle.
3. Place your hands facing each other, palms a few inches apart, as if holding an energy ball.
4. Start to sense any sensations or tingling in your hands as you gently move them closer and farther apart.
5. Imagine this energy as a healing ball of light. You can even assign it a colour.
6. Place this energy ball over an area of your body where you feel it’s needed for healing.
7. Take a few moments to feel the energy flowing from your hands into your body.

This simple meditation can serve as an introduction to energy work, allowing you to connect with your own energy and explore the sensations it generates.
